Chapel was born in Colorado in 1948. He attended college on an art scholarship, and specialized in jewelry. His creations soon grew into full sized sculptures. In 1984 Chapel was invited to lecture on his sculpture and on casting techniques at three universities in China. This was followed by participation in a traveling exhibit in China, sponsored by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. In 1987 Chapel was commissioned to do a life size sculpture for the Loveland, Colorado Civic Center Plaza. His work is in many other public and private collections. His main subject matter is birds and animals in an exciting blend of realism, stylized abstraction, mythology and symbolism. His beautiful patinas of tan to grey are accented by polished bronze.
